It’s no secret that open-source applications are growing in popularity.
If you don’t believe it, a few questions… are you using Firefox? TweetDeck?
Have you heard of Linux?
Written something in OpenOffice lately?
All of these helpful applications, or “apps,” are free, and distributed as such. It’s part of an open-source initiative.
To some, the idea of open-source may be old, but newcomers are always stumbling in – and sometimes without realizing it. Global for me is just barely dipping its toes into it.
A news network at your fingertips
The big push behind Your Global is to put the professional network of journalists behind GFM at your fingertips.
In other words, GFM is encouraging its users to create apps (or applications, as the formal word goes) that best distribute the news – for both you to receive it, and the reporter that creates it.
Do you prefer video, and know how to program the code? We’d like to hear from you.
Do you want GFM to send its stories and updates to your phone? We’d like to hear from you.
Is there an open-source app already out there you think matches Your Global’s goal? We’d like to hear from you.
Do you have a fantastic app idea, and want to pass it on to someone that can make it happen? We’d like to hear from you.
Remember, it’s all about connecting with the reporter behind the news desk. The sky is the limit, don’t you think?

- Description: VieBlogger is video and portfolio community for all ranges of professor or amateur video makers. Developed with blogging as well as journalists in mind, VieBlogger offers high-definition as well as a variety of widgets for online video distribution in any format. VieBlogger was created and developed by Ignatio Ltd, and is designed as a live demonstration of the power of the SNAPS app.
